"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."
- Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) - from a letter to the Secretary of the Treasury Albert Gallatin in 1802.

This quote is used in the film "Zeitgeist" regarding the true roots of religion, 911 conspiracy and the world banking system.

Wow, this is a great quote and so timely too with the FEDs raising the interest rate and all.
What an astonishing quote to be from the eighteenth century...he should see the fix we're in today with our banking institutions!
